Emily Zipps (she/her)

Emily Zipps lives in New Mexico with her wife and dog, where she eats an exorbitant amount of green chile. By day, she works in higher education, and by weekend she writes about queer women falling in love in all sorts of strange situations, in both the YA and the adult space. Being oblivious and confused isn’t just for teens anymore!

She has lived the following tropes: friends-to-lovers, I swear this is platonic handholding, mutual pining, and, of course, there was only one bed.

Zipps is represented by Courtney Miller-Callihan at Handspun Literary Agency and hopes to have some good publishing news to share soon!

Emily will be co-mentoring with Emily Joy Howard.

“When I first drafted and revised my book, I had no idea what was going on. I wasn’t at all connected to the writing community. I was incredibly lucky to be plucked out of the slush pile after a year of querying, because my materials weren’t doing me any favors. Ever since, I’ve tried to help others—especially other queer folks!—get that guidance before they spend a year getting query rejections, giving them their best possible chance of getting not only an agent but a book deal.”
