Beatrice Winifred Iker

Beatrice grew up in the picturesque (and undoubtedly haunted) valley of the Great Smoky Mountains. A great passion of theirs is genealogy and ancestry. As a result, much of their writing lives in the horror and southern gothic genres where they grapple with the American South’s history, which is both terrifying and entrancing. Their stories feature characters and themes in the Black, neurodiverse, and queer communities.

They are a co-host on the Afronauts Podcast with fellow Black speculative fiction authors and a Mentor-in-Residence in the Write Team Mentorship Program for the 2022 session.

Their work appears/is forthcoming in issues of FIYAH Magazine, Fantasy Magazine, Nightmare Magazine, and others. Additionally, they are a contributor to the DEATH IN THE MOUTH horror anthology (fall 2022).

When they aren’t writing, you can find them playing tabletop games with friends or deep-diving into their astrological birth chart. Beatrice lives in New England where they enjoy the snow with their husband, dog, two cats, and robust tarot deck collection.

“I’m so excited to be part of something created specifically for queer people. We deserve to feel safe, cared for, and celebrated. Let’s get to it!”
